Quack Doctor Arrested In Lagos After 11 Years Practice

Olaleye Aluko

The police in Lagos State on Monday paraded an alleged quack doctor, Celestine Yolonfun, who was arrested in the Apapa area of the state.

Our correspondent gathered that 32-year-old Yolonfun had been practising as a doctor since 2005 after he dropped out of a nursing school in the Benin Republic.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Yolonfun was arrested on Wednesday by operatives of the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, Yaba.

It was gathered that a pregnant woman, who was due for delivery, allegedly died in Yolonfun’s hospital, and her husband reported the doctor to the police at the SCIID.

Our correspondent was told that the police went to Yolonfun’s hospital – Be Well Hospital – on Liverpool Road, Apapa, and arrested him.

Yolonfun, who hails from Badagry, Lagos State, told PUNCH Metro that he had been practising since 2005 and only two patients had died in his hospital.

The suspect confessed that he paid a colleague N70,000 to obtain fake certificates of the Nigerian Medical Association and the University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

He said, “I have been practising since 2005. I did not attend any school in Nigeria. I went to the Benin Republic. I sat for the General Certificate Education two years ago. I wanted to attend a university in Nigeria to study Medicine. But my wife fell sick and I could not.

“I dropped out of a nursing school in the Benin Republic. I came back to Nigeria in 2004, and I started the hospital in 2005.

“Since I started the hospital, which takes care of general ailments, only two persons had died in the hospital. The first patient died in 2013.

“The second patient was that woman who died penultimate Saturday. The woman was pregnant. She also had high blood pressure. After giving her the initial treatment, I planned to refer her to a bigger hospital, but she died before I could move her. Her baby also died.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the police had contacted all the medical associations the suspect claimed to be registered with and they had confirmed him to be a fake doctor.

He said, “The suspect was arrested and was found to have been in this illegal practice since 2005. He operated a makeshift hospital in the Liverpool area of Apapa.

“We found a fake University of Ibadan MBBS certificate, a fake Dental and Medical Council of Nigeria certificate and a fake Corporate Affairs Commission certificate in his house.

“The professional bodies have been contacted by the police, and the suspect had been confirmed to be a fake medical practitioner.”

‘Paracetamol abuse can cause kidney damage’

September 11, 2016

A fellow and ex-president, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Olumide Akintayo

A fellow and ex-president, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Olumide Akintayo, tells ARUKAINO UMUKORO about the uses and side effects of paracetamol

What is paracetamol?

The chemical name for paracetamol is N-Acetyl-p-aminophenol. Paracetamol is classified pharmacologically as an analgesic. An analgesic is a pain-relieving medication or pain killer, and it comes in various dosage forms; liquid dosage forms for paediatrics, tablets or capsules for geriatric patients, and in more recent times, we have had the etheral form, that is, injection form, especially in situations where one does not want to use what we conventionally call non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.

What is the correct maximum daily dosage of paracetamol?

Let me give a general background. It is not only paracetamol that is misused. Most medications are routinely misused and abused in our country. One of the reasons for this is that, generally speaking, people have unrestricted access to medications. Also, most nations of the world place drug matters under the jurisdiction of the central or federal government. Nigeria is not an exemption. That is why drug matters are listed as Item 21 in Part One of the second schedule of the 1999 Constitution, so that it is only the Federal Government and its agencies that have the jurisdiction to regulate and modulate the use of medicine. Despite all this, there is still a lot of misuse and abuse because the regulatory process is still largely poor. So, from stark illiterates who know nothing about medicine to the stakeholder in care provisioning, everybody dabbles into this, which is most unfortunate.

To answer your question, paracetamol tablets come in 500mg. The ideal dose is 1g as needed. So, one gramme would be two tablets. The most common prescription is two tablets in the morning, afternoon and night, which makes up six tablets. But under normal circumstances, one is not supposed to exceed eight tablets in a 24-hour period.

It is common for some persons to take paracetamol with other pain relieving tablets. Is it advisable for people to take a drug like ibuprofen and paracetamol together?

Ibuprofen is one of the drugs I referred to earlier as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents. In conventional health practice, one can actually combine analgesic and drugs like ibuprofen. So, one could find some formulation like chlofenac-paracetamol tablet combinations. It is allowed. But usually, these are not medicines, people should buy without expert advice. It should be taken based on the prescription and advice of a pharmacist. Also, there are specific pieces of information that must be conveyed by the pharmacist when one needs to buy such combination.

Can combining paracetamol with other drugs cause any problem for a patient?

Yes. I give you a classical example of a drug interaction profile, which is very common in our environment. If one takes paracetamol tablets with chloramphenicol for instance, which a lot of people use in the management of typhoid fever, what one sees is that the paracetamol reduces the half-life of the chloramphenicol by a factor of about two. Prescribers sometimes make that mistake. That means the person taking it would be vulnerable to chloramphenicol-induced toxicity, and that would usually manifest as excessive destruction of the white blood cells in the body. The white blood cells are like soldiers of the body because they protect the body against normal infection. So, if a drug destroys these white blood cells, the body becomes very vulnerable to infection.

What are the side effects of taking paracetamol?

One of the chronic side effects, which have been confirmed, is that if an individual indulges in the excessive use of paracetamol, that person is likely to develop kidney damage. Excessive overdose is if one takes more than eight paracetamol tablets in a day, or takes the tablets against the prescription, like taking more than the prescribed two tablets thrice during an eight-hourly interval for 24 hours. Sometimes, it is a little more dangerous to indulge in the excessive use of paracetamol than aspirin because of the factor I highlighted. If the kidneys, which are vital organs of the body, are destroyed, it would cause more problems, such as renal failure and renal diseases. Some recent studies have also linked infertility to the use of paracetamol. It is not good to indulge in excessive use of paracetamol or any other medicine, because these medicines could in turn become poisonous to the body.

What is the correct dosage for children if adults are supposed to take six to eight tablets in 24 hours?

It is the same thing for children. The body weight would indicate. For instance, children between the ages of eight to 11 years need a half dosage of what an adult is supposed to take, that indicates one tablet daily, which is about 200mg. Age five and below is lower. That is why the prescription of a pharmacist is important to determine an appropriate dose based on the weight of the child through appraisal, even if there is no weighing scale.

As a pharmacist, what have you observed as the most common form of abuse of paracetamol by Nigerians?

One of the major things I have observed in my practice is that people think paracetamol is a routine drug. Often times, people take paracetamol for anything whether they have pains, headache or not. They just wake up in the morning and take paracetamol. They relegate it to the level of a multivitamin. They just feel they must take paracetamol. There are a few other drugs that can fit into this category. In essence, I am saying that except it is proven that one has a headache or pain, one does not need to indulge in the use of paracetamol.

What is your advice to the health practitioners who prescribe paracetamol tablets?

For a trained health care provider or health worker, I do not have a problem, because often times, they would not recommend the usage except there is a dire need for it. The people that need more counselling are the consumers of health care. They need to source their medicines form registered pharmacists, because there is a benefit package that goes with sourcing one’s medicine from accredited and licenced premises. Apart from the fact that one can guarantee the quality of medicine being purchased and taken, one can be sure of also getting the requisite counsel and advice.

Fake Doctor Dupes Cancer Patient Of N4 Million

A 38-year-old fake doctor, Charles Nze, has been arrested for allegedly duping a cancer patient of N4 million. Nze, who was paraded at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, claimed to be a dentist from the Calcutta State University, India.

The suspect admitted collecting the money from the victim’s family but said it was meant for drugs and equipment to treat the patient. He said: “The cancer patient is a family friend. I decided to assist them and bring the patient from another hospital. I was treating her as an outpatient. “When I commenced treatment on the patient, she was getting better. But suddenly the family discovered that I was a dentist and said I overcharged them.

Then, they requested that I refund N2 million out of the money they gave me for the treatment. “It was when I could not return the N2 million that I was arrested by military policemen at Obalende Barracks. The military police later handed me over to the police. “Three weeks after I started treating the patient, she started getting better.

Before I started treating her, she was weighing 33 kilogrammes and could not walk, but now she can walk and weighs 47kg.”

One of the victim’s family members, who did not want his name in print, told New Telegraph on the side line of the parade that Nze lied to them that he was a medical doctor, but they later got to know that he was a fake doctor.

He said: “When we first met he said he was an oncologist at 9 Brigade, Maryland and studied in India and London. My sister had been sick for some years. He promised to come and see her. “When he came, after diagnosing her, he told us that she had gastric cancer.

He charged us N270,000. He said he was going to get drugs.” But Nze, according to the family member, returned with pain killers. He added: “After 30 minutes, my sister, who was crying that she could not walk, started walking. That was what impressed us that he was actually a genuine doctor.

“He said to continue with the treatment, we needed to act fast because she might die anytime. That was how he billed us another $10,000.”

According to him, Nze later told the family members that because he had compassion for the patient, he was going to loan them N1 million, while they should look for the remaining. He added: “I sold my property and also took loans from my friends to raise the money because my parents could not afford such amount of money.

“After a while, he came back and asked for more money. Then, my wife told me that my sister was not getting better but I did not listen to her. I sold my wife’s car and gave him the money.

“Again, he came to demand additional money. It was then I told him to leave the patient alone. I said if she was going to die, she should die because we have exhausted our money.” The man said he later went to the barracks where Nze claimed he was working and made enquiries about him.

He said: “It was there I discovered he was not a doctor. The military police arrested him and handed him over to the police.” The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, urged the public to beware of the kind of people they relate with. Owoseni advised the people to go to registered medical centres for medical attention.

5 Steps to Becoming a Forex Trader

#copied

The 5 Steps to becoming a trader

Step One: Unconscious Incompetence.

This is the first step you take when starting to look into trading. you know that its a good way of making money because you've heard so many things about it and heard of so many millionaires. Unfortunately, just like when you first desire to drive a car you think it will be easy - after all, how hard can it be? Price either moves up or down - what's the big secret to that then - lets get cracking!

Unfortunately, just as when you first take your place in front of a steering wheel you find very quickly that you haven't got the first clue about what you're trying to do. You take lots of trades and lots of risks. When you enter a trade it turns against you so you reverse and it turns again .. and again, and again.

You may have initial success, and thats even worse - cos it tells your brain that this really is simple and you start to risk more money.

You try to turn around your losses by doubling up every time you trade. Sometimes you'll get away with it but more often than not you will come away scathed and bruised You are totally oblivious to your incompetence at trading.

This step can last for a week or two of trading but the market is usually swift and you move onth the next stage.

Step Two - Conscious Incompetence

Step two is where you realise that there is more work involved in trading and that you might actually have to work a few things out. You consciously realise that you are an incompetent trader - you don't have the skills or the insight to turn a regular profit.

You now set about buying systems and e-books galore, read websites based everywhere from USA to the Ukraine. and begin your search for the holy grail. During this time you will be a system nomad - you will flick from method to method day by day and week by week never sticking with one long enough to actually see if it does work. Every time you come upon a new indicator you'll be ecstatic that this is the one that will make all the difference.

You will test out automated systems on Metatrader, you'll play with moving averages, Fibonacci lines, support & resistance, Pivots, Fractals, Divergence, DMI, ADX, and a hundred other things all in the vein hope that your 'magic system' starts today. You'll be a top and bottom picker, trying to find the exact point of reversal with your indicators and you'll find yourself chasing losing trades and even adding to them because you are so sure you are right.

You'll go into the live chat room and see other traders making pips and you want to know why it's not you - you'll ask a million questions, some of which are so dumb that looking back you feel a bit silly. You'll then reach the point where you think all the ones who are calling pips after pips are liars - they cant be making that amount because you've studied and you don't make that, you know as much as they do and they must be lying. But they're in there day after day and their account just grows whilst yours falls.

You will be like a teenager - the traders that make money will freely give you advice but you're stubborn and think that you know best - you take no notice and overtrade your account even though everyone says you are mad to - but you know better. You'll consider following the calls that others make but even then it wont work so you try paying for signals from someone else - they don't work for you either.

You might even approach a 'guru' like Rob Booker or someone on a chat board who promises to make you into a trader(usually for a fee of course). Whether the guru is good or not you wont win because there is no replacement for screen time and you still think you know best.

This step can last ages and ages - in fact in reality talking with other traders as well as personal experience confirms that it can easily last well over a year and more nearer 3 years. This is also the step when you are most likely to give up through sheer frustration.

Around 60% of new traders die out in the first 3 months - they give up and this is good - think about it - if trading was easy we would all be millionaires. another 20% keep going for a year and then in desperation take risks guaranteed to blow their account which of course it does.

What may suprise you is that of the remaining 20% all of them will last around 3 years - and they will think they are safe in the water - but even at 3 years only a further 5-10% will continue and go on to actually make money consistently.

By the way - they are real figures, not just some ive picked out of my head - so when you get to 3 years in the game dont think its plain sailing from there.

Iv had many people argue with me about these timescales - funny enough none of them have been trading for more that 3 years - if you think you know better then ask on a board for someone who's been trading 5 years and ask them how long it takes to become fully 100% proficient. Sure i guess there will be exceptions to the rle - but i havent met any yet.

Eventually you do begin to come out of this phase. You've probably committed more time and money than you ever thought you would, lost 2 or 3 loaded accounts and all but given up maybe 3 or 4 times but now its in your blood

One day - im a split second moment you will enter stage 3.

Step 3 - The Eureka Moment

Towards the end of stage two you begin to realise that it's not the system that is making the difference. You realise that its actually possible to make money with a simple moving average and nothing else IF you can get your head and money management right You start to read books on the psychology of trading and identify with the characters portrayed in those books and finally comes the eureka moment.

The eureka moment causes a new connection to be made in your brain. You suddenly realise that neither you, nor anyone else can accurately predict what the market will do in the next ten seconds, never mind the next 20 mins.

Because of this revelation you stop taking any notice of what anyone thinks - what this news item will do, and what that event will do to the markets. You become an individual with your own method of trading

You start to work just one system that you mould to your own way of trading, you're starting to get happy and you define your risk threshold.

You start to take every trade that your 'edge' shows has a good probability of winning with. When the trade turns bad you don't get angry or even because you know in your head that as you couldn't possibly predict it it isn't your fault - as soon as you realise that the trade is bad you close it . The next trade or the one after it or the one after that will have higher odds of success because you know your system works.

You stop looking at trading results from a trade-to-trade perspective and start to look at weekly figures knowing that one bad trade does not a poor system make.

You have realised in an instant that the trading game is about one thing - consistency of your 'edge' and your discipline to take all the trades no matter what as you know the probabilities stack in your favour.

You learn about proper money management and leverage - risk of account etc etc - and this time it actually soaks in and you think back to those who advised the same thing a year ago with a smile. You weren't ready then, but you are now. The eureka moment came the moment that you truly accepted that you cannot predict the market.

Step 4 - Conscious Competence

You are making trades whenever your system tells you to. You take losses just as easily as you take wins You now let your winners run to their conclusion fully accepting the risk and knowing that your system makes more money than it looses and when you're on a loser you close it swiftly with little pain to your account

You are now at a point where you break even most of the time - day in day out, you will have weeks where you make 100 pips and weeks where you lose 100 pips - generally you are breaking even and not losing money. You are now conscious of the fact that you are making calls that are generally good and you are getting respect from other traders as you chat the day away. You still have to work at it and think about your trades but as this continues you begin to make more money than you lose consistently.

You'll start the day on a 20 pip win, take a 35 pip loss and have no feelings that you've given those pips back because you know that it will come back again. You will now begin to make consistent pips week in and week out 25 pips one week, 50 the next and so on.

This lasts about 6 months

Step Five - Unconscious Competence

Now we’re cooking - just like driving a car, every day you get in your seat and trade - you do everything now on an unconscious level. You are running on autopilot. You start to pick the really big trades and getting 200 pips in a day doesnt make you any more excited that getting 1 pips.

You see the newbies in the forum shouting 'go dollar go' as if they are urging on a horse to win in the grand national and you see yourself - but many years ago now.

This is trading utopia - you have mastered your emotions and you are now a trader with a rapidly growing account.

You're a star in the trading chat room and people listen to what you say. You recognise yourself in their questions from about two years ago. You pass on your advice but you know most of it is futile because they're teenagers - some of them will get to where you are - some will do it fast and others will be slower - literally dozens and dozens will never get past stage two, but a few will.

Trading is no longer exciting - in fact it's probably boring you to bits - like everything in life when you get good at it or do it for your job - it gets boring - you're doing your job and that's that.

Finally you grow out of the chat rooms and find a few choice people who you converse with about the markets without being influenced at all.

All the time you are honing your methods to extract the maximum profit from the market without increasing risk. Your method of trading doesnt change - it just gets better - you now have what women call 'intuition'

You can now say with your head held high "I'm a currency trader" but to be honest you dont even bother telling anyone - it's a job like any other.

I hope youve enjoyed reading this journey into a traders mind and that hopefully youve identified with some points in here.

Remember that only 5% will actually make it - but the reason for that isnt ability, its staying power and the ability to change your perceptions and paradigms as new information comes available.

The losers are those who wanted to 'get rich quick' but approached the market and within 6 months put on a pair of blinkers so they couldnt see the obvious - a kind of "this is the way i see it and thats that" scenario - refusing to assimilate new information that changes that perception.

Im happy to tell you that the reason i started trading was because of the 'get rich quick' mindset. Just that now i see it as 'get rich slow'

If youre thinking about giving up i have one piece of advice for you ....

Ask yourself the question "how many years would you go to college if you knew for a fact that there was a million dollars a year job at the end of it?

Take care and good trading to you all.

I left of the name of the author of this piece by mistake. If anyone knows the name of the true author, please let me know and I'll add it here. Thanks

The suspect, a consultant gynecologist at the Life Point Medical Centre, Utako, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja has been arrested for allegedly drugging and raping some of his female patients in Abuja.

Confirming the incident to newsmen on Monday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP, Muhammad Mustafa said police operatives attached to the Command swung into action and arrested the suspect on August 4.

The CP noted that the officers acted on report of the unethical conduct of the consultant gynecologist who was reported to have been in the habit of taking undue advantage of his female patients who come to him for treatment or consultation in his office and other locations.

Mustafa said, “Investigations revealed that the suspect uses drugs to induce his victims in order to have intercourse with them, therefore corroborating the allegations brought up against him.

Doctors Remove 40 Knives From Man's Stomach In India (Photo here)

The man kept his knife-eating habit secret from his family
"In my 20 years of practice, I have never seen anything like it," doctor says

New Delhi (CNN): A man in India spent two months swallowing knives and had 40 of them surgically removed from his stomach, according to the doctor who led the operation.

"He had a wild urge to consume metal. Even for us, the experienced surgeons, it was frightening," Dr. Jatinder Malhotra told CNN.

"We were so nervous... a small mistake could have taken the patient's life. In my 20 years of practice, I have never seen anything like it."

Malhotra said it took his team about two days to form a diagnosis and surgery plan.

The five-hour operation took place Friday in the northern Indian city of Amritsar, a Sikh holy city in the state of Punjab.

Malhotra said they found foldable knives, which when fully extended were about seven inches long.

"He [the patient] says he swallowed some knives folded, and some unfolded. When we took out the knives -- some were found folded, some were open, and some had even started rusting and were broken," Malhotra said.

The patient, a 42-year-old father of two, told CNN he's feeling much better.

"I'm sorry I let my family down. I'll be forever thankful to doctors and hospital staff for saving my life," he said.

Malhotra says the patient is now "out of danger" and is set to be discharged in a couple of days.

He won't be discharged until he's cleared by psychiatrists, which is set to happen in a couple of days, two doctors at the hospital told CNN.

'Try spinach'

But the big question remains -- why did he start eating knives?
"I don't know why I used to swallow knives," the patient told CNN. "I just enjoyed its taste and I was addicted ... how people get addicted to alcohol and other things, my situation was similar."

Malhotra believes the patient has a very rare mental disorder that most likely has not been published in any international medical journal.

The patient is currently under the continuous supervision of the hospital's in-house psychiatric team and will soon be visited by independent mental health experts, doctors said.

The patient told doctors that he has no idea why he started eating knives but that he "developed a taste for metal" and "loved the way blades tasted."

The patient even managed to keep his habit secret from his family, according to Malhotra.

Now, Malhotra says, the patient claims he won't even touch a knife anymore.

"I will never do such acts ever again," the patient said. "I'm a new person now."

If the urge does strike, Malhotra and his team gave him some advice -- "we told him if you ever feel like you need more iron in your body, try spinach."

Regular Sexual Activity Is Good For Your Health - Oladapo Ashiru

Oladapo Ashiru, Professor of Anatomy/Consultant Reproductive Endocrinologist

Men who have sex at least two times in a week can almost halve their risk of heart disease, a new research says. The study, which was conducted with over 1,000 men, describes sex as an activity that involves intense physical and emotional elements. Sexual intercourse may be a marker for a healthy heart because sex can be a form of physical activity, which, like exercise, gives your heart a workout.

Those who desire frequent sex and are able to get it, are likely to be healthier than others. Men who have regular sex may also be in a supportive relationship, which offers stress reduction and emotional benefits.

Regular sex is so beneficial that when you see a doctor he is likely to ask many questions about your sex so as to find out about your overall health condition. Apparently sex is not only good for your heart; it also keeps many diseases at bay.

For example, sex can actually cause you to get fewer colds.

Research has shown that couples who have sex weekly have a 30 per cent increase in immunoglobulin A, which is an antibody that fights infection. Sex can also help women have a more predictable period schedule, as a result of being exposed to male pheromones.

In addition, having sex reduces stress – for physiological as well as emotional reasons. Anything that will reduce stress is good for you as too much stress can lead to many diseases including cancer. Sex activates a nerve that has a calming effect. Having sex also lowers blood pressure, which reduces the risk of heart disease.

Sex can even reduce LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and increase HDL (“good”) cholesterol.

These are the good results that a healthy sex life can give you:

Fewer colds because of an increase in immunoglobulin A, an antibody that fights infection.
Women can get more predictable periods because of exposure to male pheromones.
A better physical response to stress
Lower blood pressure, which lowers your risk of heart disease.
Lowers your bad cholesterol and increase your good cholesterol.
Helps to tone your abs, gluts and pretty much any muscle in your body.
Naturally increases estrogen level which improves the appearance of your hair, skin and nails.
Helps to improve your memory because of increased blood flow to your brain.
Increased feelings of motivation because of the release of endorphins.
As you can see, a good sex life is one way to stay happy, healthy and fit. So if your doctor starts grilling you about your bedroom habits, you will know why. And this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Sex has also been found to boost self-esteem and improve intimacy in your relationship. This is because sex and orgasms result in increased levels of the hormone oxytocin — the “love” hormone – that helps you to feel bonded to your partner.

As oxytocin increases, so do hormones known as endorphins, which in turn lessens feelings of pain related to everything from headaches and arthritis to symptoms of menopause. It can also help you to get a better night’s sleep.

Further, for women, having sex can help strengthen the muscles of your pelvic floor (the same ones used to stop urination). As you age, having strong pelvic floor muscles reduces your risk of accidents.

Of course, these benefits are assuming that you’re having sex with a mutually monogamous partner – otherwise you risk catching a sexually transmitted disease.

Sexual pleasure begins in your brain

Your brain and nervous system control your sex glands and genitals. This is why they also control your sexual desire, as well as orgasms. It explains why, for example, visual images trigger sexual desire in both sexes.

Your brain stem also emits nerve impulses that control erectile function. These nerve impulses navigate through the Attention center of your spinal column to the erectile tissue of your joystick where they trigger a chain reaction in the membranes of your vascular muscle cells. This sophisticated chain reaction depends on a messenger molecule called cyclic guanosine monophosphate, or cGMP.

However, this works in reverse as well. An Attention softens as soon as another enzyme called phosphodiesterase starts to degrade the cGMP molecules.

Drugs like Viagra, Levitra and Cialis work by inhibiting phosphodiesterase, which may help maintain your Attention. But, these pills will not lead to an Attention. Your initial Attention still has to be triggered psychologically. Without that initial impetus, potency pills will have no effect whatsoever. This is also why these pills are ineffective for many men who take them hoping for a magic jack-in-the box effect.

As you might suspect, because your sexuality is so intimately tied to your mind, anxiety, defensiveness, fear, and failure of communication are all destructive psychological forces that can take a heavy toll on your libido, whether you’re a man or a woman. They are road blocks to desire. So handle them.

According to Professor Gert Holstege of the University of Groningen in the Nederlands, “Fear and anxiety need to be avoided at all costs if a woman wishes to have an orgasm.”

How to improve sexual desire naturally

If you would like to take advantage of some of the health benefits that regular sexual activity has to offer, yet find that your desire just isn’t what it used to be, there are many natural tips that can help.

Your sexual fires may also be fanned simply by eating less sugar. High levels of sugar in your bloodstream can actually turn off the gene that controls your sex hormones.

Four other tips to give your libido a big-time boost include:

Getting physically active. Studies have shown that men who engaged in regular physical activity lowered their risk of experiencing sexual dysfunction. Remember, when using exercise as a drug, it’s important to vary your routine.

Epileptic Woman Falls Into Fire In Ugandan see Graphic Photos

The lady pictured above allegedly fell facedown into fire last weekend during one of her epileptic feet. Grace Nakagulire fell facedown into fire after she had one of her attacks when she went to the kitchen unsupervised. Her cousin who shared the photos said the victim has been suffering epilepsy since she was 3-years-old. She wrote;

My cousin, Grace Nakagulire has lived with epilepsy since she was three years old. Most of her life, she lived with her mother in the village. She loves to crochet table clothes and chair covers with wool. She has one child. Last weekend, Nakagulire went unsupervised to the kitchen when tea-water was boiling. She got an epilepsy attack. She fell face-down into the fire and sustained severe burns to her face and hand. A relative found her lying unconcious in the fire. Fearing that the worst had happened, she raised an alarm for help.
Villagers gathered and advised my aunt not to go to hospital, but rather take Nakagulire to a local herbalist in a neighbouring village. The police from Buwama also came to the scene. They asked my aunt for Thirty Thousand Shillings to transport my cousin to Nkozi Hospital. Upon observing the burns and wounds on my cousin's body, doctors at Nkozi referred her to Mulago Hospital. For Two Hundred Thousand Shillings, an ambulance transferred her to the brand new facility of Mulago Hospital located in Kiruddu, along Salaama Road.
I went twice to visit Nakagulire at the hospital. I was very impressed. The spacious lifts work perfectly. The tiled toilets are very clean and they flash. Hospital admission and medical care are free. Admitted patients get a free warm meal daily. The Intensive Care Unit on fourth floor is devoted to only patients with severe burns and wounds. The staff on day-duty are very kind. They let me in. I saw all sorts of patients: an eleven-months'-old baby with a burnt face and arm, a youth severely burnt by acid, a man burnt inside his house in an arson attack that killed his two children, a builder electrocuted while working on the roof of a house... The staff on night-duty are very strict. They barred me and my kids from entering the ward. Fair enough!
Epilepsy is still real in Uganda. Many Baganda still believe it is a cultural illness which is only treatable using traditional therapies. It is important to address the stigmatisation of people living with epilepsy. Epileptic people can live full whole lives, when they adhere to medical regimes. Families and carers of people living with epilepsy need our support. In the event of severe burns due to falling into fires, the new Mulago Hospital facility at Kiruddu has got expert staff and services to provide requisite healthcare, even for people with epilepsy. I have observed my cousin improving by leaps and bounds!

Roof oF Theatre Caves in During Live Surgery in Ghana

The roof of the main surgical ward which
contains the obstetrics and gynecology ward at
the Effia Nkwanta Hospital, Ghana has caved in
during surgery. The surgery which was being
undertaken on three pregnant patients had to
be halted when the unfortunate incident
occurred.
Doctors had to transfer the patients to the
Kwesi Mintim Hospital for the process to
continue. One of them died and some have
attributed her death to the incident. But the
Medical Director of hospital, Dr Kwau Ntodi
denied this. He said the lady could have died
even if the incident had not occurred because
she had a ruptured uterus. Her death,
therefore, he said, could not have been as a
result of the movement from the hospital to
another.
The medical officer who attended to the lady
upon arrival at the Kwesi Mintim hospital said
that the baby had already died before they
arrived at the hospital. The other two patients
are in good condition.

See Photos here! Baby born with no skin on.

India has recorded their first case of

Harlequin Ichthyosis. A baby girl, Maharashtra who was born in Nagpur, is believed to have Harlequin Ichthyosis, a severe genetic disorder which leaves the entire body encased in armour-like thick white plates, separated by deep cracks leaving no skin on the body.

The baby was born by caesarean section to a 23-year-old woman from the city of Amravati in Indian at the Lata Mangeshkar Medical College and Hospital.

Doctors say the child will have to face daily treatments and daily moisturizing in order to survive the condition. They say they’re applying petroleum jelly and coconut oil onto the child’s skin and giving her a special nutritional supplement.

Paediatrician Dr Yash Banait said:

“There is no cure for this disorder. All that medical science can do is try to keep the baby alive.”
